Interesting stuff I’ve found on the internet this week:
If all this talk about natural disasters puts you on edge, then you probably shouldn’t read this article about what will happen when the inevitable mega-quake hits the Pacific Northwest. The scenario they give reads like a Hollywood disaster movie. In fact, it’s probably being optioned as we speak. All I can say is I’m glad I’ve already visited the Oregon coast.
Gawker is ranking the 50 states, from least worst to worst. Their brief explanations are hilarious. Considering how the rest of the country hates us, Texas ranks a respectable 13th. According to Gawker, the main reason everyone hates us – besides being the home of W – is we’re arrogant and think we’re better than everyone. The truth hurts, I guess.
Slowly but surely, the networks are leaking promo pictures and videos of the upcoming fall season. I’m excited! Ironic considering we at the Swamp are considering cutting our cable service. Daniel Feinberg over on Hit Fix has a series, Take Me to the Pilots 11, that reviews all of the new fall shows the networks are offering. Scroll to the bottom for links to all of the shows he has reviewed in the series.
Does Hurricane Irene have you obsessed with weather? Check out The Daily Beasts list of best hurricane reads. I highly recommend Junger’s The Perfect Storm (and the movie) and Erik Larson‘s Issac’s Storm, an excellent account about the 1900 Galveston hurricane.
Actually, I didn’t spend that much time on the internet this week so that’s it.
