In January, I read eight books. I believe that is a record for me. Two caveats; they were all rather short and only three received four stars.
As my reading has increased, my television time has decreased. I don’t miss television much at all. I have noticed a decrease in television viewing for my entire family, in fact. If I could figure out how to get HBO Go legally so I can watch Veep, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and their archived shows, I would seriously consider cancelling cable and buying an HD antenna. I don’t think my family would want to give up sports, but then again, they might not care that much. Don’t worry; I’m not going to turn into one of those “I don’t watch television” snobs. They are almost as insufferable as the people who claim they just don’t have time to read. It’s all about balance, people. All forms of entertainment have their benefits and drawbacks. There is something for everyone.
Reading goals for February are the same as January. Read as many books as possible. I’m going to focus on the TBR list I posted about the other day, though as a struggle with Mrs. Dalloway, I suspect I might delay reading Blood Meridian which from all accounts is a challenge. Right now, I am considering spending March reading non-fiction books, a genre I have neglected of late.
What was the best novel you read in January? (Mine was Dark Places.) Have goals set for February?
